An average of 2.7 million viewers watched the second Rugby World Cup match of the XV Rugby World Cup on Wednesday morning, according to Médiamétrie data released on Thursday.

If this score is less impressive than the first match of the France team against Argentina in late September, followed by 4.3 million viewers, this can be explained by the less favorable broadcast schedule, in the middle of the week and in the morning, at a time when many fans of the oval ball are at work. It nevertheless represented a board in share of hearing for the first channel, TF1 having gathered 48.3% of the French who watched the television at that hour.

Also note that TF1 recorded a peak to 3.1 million viewers during the meeting, according to data provided by the channel.

TF1 is relying heavily on this 2019 edition of the Rugby World Cup organized in Japan. The television group, which had shared the broadcast of the 2015 edition with Canal +, is this time the only broadcaster of the competition in France. It broadcasts for the first time the entire event live and in clear, on its antennas and platform MYTF1.

The matches of the XV tricolor and the biggest posters are programmed on TF1, and the other meetings on TMC, another channel of the group, which diffuses already regular sporting events.

After his win 33 to 9 over the United States, the XV of France will face Tonga Sunday at 9:45 (French time).
