This is a world of dreams and reverie
Where I felt the stars explode around me
A grass-blade flashed with a gleam
As it slashed open a moon-beam
And I stared back breathlessly
As mountains of fruit tumbled out
I barely had the chance to shout
A strawberry avalanche crashed over me

Staying awake that night was rather hard
Deep in a sleeping bag in your backyard
When we woke up buried alive
Beneath a fruity landslide
We both laughed hysterically
It could have been just another dream
But I swear I heard you scream
A strawberry avalanche crashed over me

Always a citrus constellation in the galaxy
Scratched on the back of both my eyelids
And I've been dying to see
If you were a beautiful sound
In the echoes all around
Then I'd be your harmony
And we'd sing along with the crowds
Beneath the candy-coated clouds
A strawberry avalanche, please crash over me

This is a world of dreams and reverie
Where I felt the stars explode around me

Adam told spin.com this: "I spent last summer mountain climbing with a host family in Tibet and actually witnessed a live avalanche from across an immense ravine. Needless to say, it was both terrifying and awe inspiring. After returning home that night, I slouched on the couch and ate a bowl of Cheerios with fresh strawberries. I thought getting hit in the face by a huge strawberry avalanche would be the most romantic way to 'buy the farm.' And I'm the farthest thing from a farmer."

Okay, I've seen some terrible explanations for this song on here, so I'm going to try my best to help Adam out here...

The song is clearly about a dream. "this is a world of dreams and reverie (2X)", and "scratched on the back of both my eyelids". And it appears to be a reoccurring one too: "it could've been just another dream". This dream must have seemed very realistic to him "...but I swear I heard you scream." Perhaps the dream seemed so realistic that he wanted to stay up all night and wait for it to happen: "Staying awake that night was rather hard."

Him and the other person (could've been a pal, but more likely a gal-pal/girlfriend because "If you were a beautiful sound.") are apparently camping in a backyard somewhere, just as setting to the story. It must be something they do as a couple.

Okay...so the part that says "when we woke up buried alive beneath the fruity land slide, we both laughed hysterically." This could've been what actually happened in the dream, or perhaps it's a metaphor (like, he told her the story of the dream, and got so into the description, it was as if they were both there, buried under the fruity landslide. And, sense they both thought it was a silly picture, they laughed hysterically.)

So, the verse that says "If you were a beautiful sound and the echoes all around, then I'd be your harmony, and we'd sing along with the crowds beneath the candy coated clouds- oh strawberry avalanche, please crash over me." So, most of know that yelling/screaming/singing/echoing causes avalanches. So what he appears to be saying is that one of his greatest fantasies would be a world with citrus skies where you could sing in a loud chorus, bringing an avalanche of fruit on top of yourself... I don't blame him...sounds fun!

I think a strawberry avalanche is what you feel when everything around you is perfect and you feel happy and free. A sudden rush of sweet happiness that overcomes you and you do not want it to ever stop.

    Owl City is amazing. ♥

    Lyric Correction

These lyrics are a bit off. Correct lyrics are:

This is a world of dreams and reverie Where I felt the stars explode around me A grass blade flashed with a gleam as it slashed open a moonbeam And I stared back breathlessly As mountains of fruit tumbled out I barely had the chance to shout Oh strawberry avalanche, crash over me

Staying awake that night was rather hard Deep in a sleeping bag in your back yard When we woke up buried alive beneath the fruity landslide We both laughed hysterically It could've been just another dream but I swear I heard you scream Oh strawberry avalanche, crash over me

Hope is a citrus constellation in the galaxy Scratched on the back of both my eyelids That I've been dying to see

If you were a beautiful in the echoes all around Then I'd be your harmony And we'd sing along with the crowds beneath the candy coated clouds Oh strawberry avalanche, please crash over me

This is a world of dreams and reverie Where I felt the stars explode around me

Instead of the line "As It smashed over the moonbeam" it's "As it slashed open a moonbeam". :]

Yes, this song seems like a moment of pure joy and happiness. When you feel like things can't get any better... just kind of gets me from the completely and utterly random lyrics and title. I mean, he could've put this literally, but he has to compare it to a strawberry avalanche. Why I freakin love this guy.

Despite Urban Dictionarys definition, Strawberry Avalanche is not vaginal blood. Its about a rush of sweetness, in the most literal way, but a better translation would be something that just fills you with joy and loveliness

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
