Former Milan, Inter, Juventus, Lazio and Japan coach Alberto Zaccheroni is reportedly in intensive care after he was knocked unconscious during a domestic accident.

The 69-year-old retired in 2019 after a globe-trotting career that saw him work in Japan, China and the United Arab Emirates.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and the Corriere Romagna, Zaccheroni was at his home in Cesenatico when he had a fall and hit his head on the ground, losing consciousness.

He was immediately taken to the Maurizio Bufalini hospital in Cesena by an ambulance crew and he has been placed in intensive care.

It is not yet clear whether he lost consciousness when hitting his head or if the fall was due to another medical condition.

He has initially been diagnosed with concussion and head trauma, but is yet to regain consciousness.

The highlights of Zaccheroni’s career were winning the Serie A title with Milan in 1998-99, while he took Japan to success in the Asian Cup and EAFF East Asian Cup.
