Sell ware for best price... not working (whoops.. solved)

I have a SPP in Herron's Nebula that's full of energy. There are two TP ships who call it home: one buying crystals, one selling energy. At least, so I want. But the Sell ship won't budge. I give it the command to sell for best price, and it won't even un-dock the Power Plant! WHY?!

Things to check. Can it actually sell the goods for the price you've set within the max jumps range?

Check to see whether its got a full hold of anything? Even if its got ECs then empty it out and try again.

Try giving it a buy command to see if it complies with that. If so then try then giving it a sell command.

Eh... it doesn't much matter anywho. Just after I posted, I went back into the game. Issued a few commands. I apparently re-issued the 'sell for best' command just as the ship was leaving the SPP, because it stalled in the airlock and blew up :(

Sounds like it was sitting there waiting to find some one it could sell to and you just happened to give it new orders as it was leaving. I'd check that you're selling price isn't too high for the sector (if you have 0 jumps set as max). I generally have my jumps set to 2 and have no trouble selling at 22 credits.

I tried again with an unlucky Pirate Ship who's now serving Parole thanks to your cap guide, and found that even at 2 jumps the bugger had to sell at 21 for any movement.. otherwise my 'leaky-loop' is doing well.

i think the selling price only applies to the ai that docks at your station to buy energy cells. when your transports go out to sell they find the best selling price and go there to sell. i have all my stations set to max price so noone else will land there but my ships. but sometimes they do and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

The selling price DOES affect your selling ships, even though they use sell at best price, that is best price between max and your limit.

Therefore if your limit is 23cr, then it will only sell if it can find a buying offering 23cr - this can frequently cause your sellers to sit on their hands for hours.

I set mine to about 21cr - the sellers will still get the best deal if 22cr or 23cr stations are out there, but it keeps your station active if they arent.

No point selling at max if you arent actually selling cos there are no buyers!
