Ok so I just got my 2 OCZ Vertex 2 120g's. Got them installed and raided together in raid 0.  How ever it is showing I only have 148g of space. Is this normal?

Hrm, even keeping in mind that a '120gb' drive is only (formatted) 111gb, that definitely doesn't seem right.

Did you try each of the drives in the system, on their own, and verify the capacity on them?  If it was stuck in any of the other RAID modes, you'd only have 120gb (IE., 111gb usable), RAID-0 should give you 240gb (IE., 223gb usable).

So the only way that number makes sense is if the drives aren't 120gb drives...

(EDIT: In fact, if both drives were 80gb drives instead of 120gb drives, the usable space in RAID-0 would be almost exactly 148gb).

Ok I messed it up when I did it. I just re-did everything and it is working with the correct space. When i first tried doing the raid, I tried to restore the image. I guess because I did this it kept my settings because I didn't delete and re-create the raid. Installing everything all over again now. Bf3 PS2 and ASCIII will take the longest.

Bah so I messed up again. In bios I set my sata config to raid instead of AHCI. GFG. Is this going to give me ssd life problems because I really dont feel like going through reinstalling everything if all it will do is up the performance a bit.

I assume you put your OS on one of the drives and have the bios set to raid mode?

If this is the case it is absolutely not a problem. Any single drive under raid but not part of an array defaults to achi mode.
