I was wondering if performance in a raid 0 decreases after you pass two disks? I had a raid 0 with 2 120gb phoenix pro ssds and it was around 500+ mbs. I purchased a third yesterday and put that on so its a triple 120 ssd raid 0, and performance only went up a wee bit. It's at like 670 now. Much smaller increase. Do they have a decreasing value as more are added after 2 or something? Or perhaps I am doing something wrong.

How you doing. You are going to want these Intel RST drivers. Helped my speeds alot.

Download top file and run. Also you may want to check out this guide:
    http://thessdreview.com/optimization-guides/the-ssd-optimization-guide-2/

This also made a big difference. I am running 3 OCZ Vertex 2's in raid 0 and am reading at 730mb/s and writing at 657mb/s. Well worth your time plus it sorta teaches you how these things work.
Follow these steps and you should see an increase in performance. It's going to differ depending on the read and write speeds of the individual drives, but no performace decrease should be seen using more than 2 drives. I know my individual ssds have a read speed of 285mb/s write of 275mb/s and sustained of 250mb/s. So also consider the individual speed of the ssd.

Hi, Yah I have the intel rst drivers. Also, it wasn't a performance decrease, it still increased in performance, just not as greatly as the initial upgrade from one drive to raid 0 on 2 drives did. I pretty much doubled my speed when put into raid 0, but did not triple by adding a third drive. Thanks for the link on the guide though, ill check that out

I did not notice a decrese going fron 2 drives to 3, but you  would from 3 to 4, as you hit the limit of the on board controller, would imigine the limits would be diferent depending on whither we are talking Intel, Jmcron, or Marvel, a single Intel SSD 260, two  550, three 720, the onboard controller tops out somewhere in the low- mid 800's.

This is my HDtune with the 3 ssd raid. It was not a performance decrease ><, well generally. Access time is up from .084 to .110, but the read speed average is up only like 120mbs or so. Was like 500 some on the 2 disk, don't remember the exact value.

I guess I expected more of a mb/s increase by adding a third drive. I figured there was something rational like less gain per each added drive after x drives type thing. Also, access time increased(granted by such a trivial amount).

the decresing performance shown by the yellow must be specific drive dependant, as I don't see it, in the Intel X25M drives, going from two to three.

Would mind running those test again with the newest version of HDTune? 4.6?

I literally just downloaded hd tune today as had to reformat for the third drive. If my version is out of date you're gonna have to directly link me, cause I'm confused. Downloaded directly off their website. Also kmoore, I bet it's cause you have the actual Intel SSD's. The reviews I read showed them at the best, but also quite pricey so I went with phoenix pros. Not sure otherwise why mine are blowing in comparision

Ah I was already using 4.6 :). Yah I'm pretty disappointed in my phoenix's if it really just boils down to brand differences. Barely ahead of his 2 drive striped
