Elmer's Glue products haven't done much for me recently. I purchased this glue stick thinking it would be easy to use. Nothing stays on the page. It says Re-positionable Picture and Poster Stick. I wanted to use it to secure my photos in my albums. I found this glue stick to be absolutely useless.
I'm giving them three stars for the old fashioned liquid glue that I have used. It was a household necessity when I was in school and when I raised my daughter. We always had projects that required a glue that kept items securely adhered. At the very least until we got the school grade.
So there you have it. My daughter does all my gluing for me these days. Sorry Elmer, Gorilla Glue has taken your place.Helpful 45Thanks 0Love this 40Oh no 0 - 1133143415269Aug 7, 2022
While catching up on Yelp I just happened across a review of Elmer's products from my NYC long-time friend Marianne W., she's the coolest. It just so happens that while reading it I noticed that I have a big bottle of Elmer's glue next to a painting I'm working on.
Elmer's Glue was first introduced by the Borden Company in 1947. A dairy company going into the adhesive business may at first seem surprising, but it makes good sense when you learn that one of the prime ingredients in this early form of the glue was casein, the protein in dairy milk. (Today's glue is synthetic) Borden called their product, Cascorez Glue. The early packaging was a glass bottle with a separate ice cream pop-type wooden applicator. It was attached to the side of the bottle with a rubber band. Elmer, the bull, was not featured on the original bottle. BTW The bull mascot, Elmer, from Elmer's Glue and the cow Elsie, mascot from Borden Dairy products are a couple with four children. yep know you know that :-)
The folks liked that liquid glue was easier to use, like a paste, and they liked the white glue better than the other glues on the market. LePage's Glue had been introduced as early as 1876, but it was a permanent adhesive. It was also smelly because it was made from fish byproducts, yuck! In contrast, the white glue from Borden spread nicely and dried clear. Another biggy was the new glue could be washed off school desks and cleaned from hands as well. The rest is indeed history ;-)
If you're like me and are struck by things that make you go hmmm, you might at some point wonder "why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the container"? It's science LOL

I have been using Elmer's glue since grammar school, and yes it was long after it was invented, and still use it today. Not much else to write about, but it's always somewhere in my house. That's the end of my story and I'm sticking to it :-)

I just got back from the Home Depot, and being a painter (fine arts) I use Elmers products in my artwork, and have been for over 12 years now. On my recent visit to purchase I noticed the 32oz jugs felt a bit on the lite side, opened it up to find it was only about 3/4 the way full. I've been a fan of their products for over a decade now, but if they wanna raise their prices and give less product. I will find another method for my artwork.
