Claims (19)
- デジタルコード化したデータを記録且つ保存するための複数のプラッタ及びヘッドを有するタイプのコンピュータのハードディスクドライブにおいて、
前記ヘッドが、0nm(完全接触)乃至5nmの範囲の浮上高さを有し;
前記プラッタが、約52乃至80原子パーセントの範囲の炭素、及び約20乃至48原子パーセントの範囲の水素を含むカーボンの保護膜を有することを特徴とする改良。 - 前記ヘッドが、約25乃至95%の水素及び約75乃至5%の炭素を含有するソースを含むプラズマから成長する保護膜を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の改良。
- 前記保護膜が、ほぼ無摩擦であり、
前記プラッタ上の、超低摩耗の構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜が、0.5乃至5nmの厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の改良。 - 前記ヘッド上の、前記無摩擦の超低摩耗の構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜が、約0.3乃至5nmの厚さを有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の改良。
- さらに、前記プラッタのそれぞれが、1Tb/in2よりも大きい面密度を具える磁性層を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の改良。
- 前記プラッタと前記ヘッドとの間の磁気的な間隔が、6.5nm未満であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の改良。
- さらに、前記ドライブの内部に不活性ガス雰囲気を具えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の改良。
- 前記不活性ガス雰囲気が、水素及び窒素ガスの混合物であることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の改良。
- デジタルコード化したデータを記録且つ保存するための高性能ハードディスクドライブであって:
密閉されたハウジングと;
軸受スピンドル及びスリーブと;
前記ハウジングの中で前記スピンドルとともに回転するよう取り付けられた複数のプラッタと;
前記プラッタからデジタルコード化したデータを記録且つ保存するための前記プラッタに近接する複数のヘッドと;
を具えており、
それぞれの前記ヘッドが、0nm(完全接触)乃至10nm未満の浮上高さを有しており、
前記それぞれのヘッド及び前記プラッタ上の構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜が、約52乃至80原子パーセントの範囲の炭素、及び約20乃至48原子パーセントの範囲の水素を含む保護膜を有することを特徴とする高性能ハードディスクドライブ。 - さらに、前記軸受スピンドル及びスリーブ上に、0.5乃至3μm厚の構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜を具えることを特徴とする請求項11に記載の高性能ハードディスクドライブ。
- 超低摩耗の構造的にアモルファスのカーボンコーティングが、駆動動作中に互いに反発し合う対向するコーティング面に正の電荷を与えることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- さらに、前記プラッタ上に、1Tb/in2よりも大きい面密度を有する磁性層を具えることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の高性能ハードディスクドライブ。
- 磁気的な間隔が6.5nm未満であることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の高性能ハードディスクドライブ。
- ハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法であって、
約52乃至80原子パーセントの範囲の炭素及び約20乃至48原子パーセントの範囲の水素を含む、超低摩擦、超低摩耗の、構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜を、前記ドライブのプラッタ及びヘッドの表面に適用するステップと;
前記ドライブの内部に不活性ガス雰囲気を与えるステップと;
前記ヘッドの浮上高さを、0nm(完全接触)乃至5nmに減らすステップと;
を具えることを特徴とする方法。 - さらに、前記超低摩擦、超低摩耗の、構造的にアモルファスのカーボン保護膜を、前記プラッタが回転のために取り付けられるスピンドル及びスリーブに適用するステップを具えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法。
- さらに、前記ヘッドのための待機区域を前記プラッタから除去するステップを具えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法。
- さらに、レーザー加工を除去するステップを具えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法。
- さらに、前記プラッタの前記保護膜から潤滑剤を除去するステップを具えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法。
- さらに、前記プラッタの磁性層の面密度を、1Tb/in2よりも大きく増やすステップを具えることを特徴とする請求項14に記載のハードディスクドライブの性能を改良するための方法。
