Q:(I've always found interesting the Executed TIPs for EPs 1-4, since they always have an anti-fantasy bit and an anti-mystery one. What's your opinion on them? Are there any that catch your attention more, either bc they give nice hints or bc of the prose itself?)
Hum…
some of them are intriguing, some of them are just a reminder of how people died.
For EP 1 I like:
Bern’s execute is extremely hard to figure out at a first reading but, if you keep it in mind you can realize it’s a nice hint later on.
I found sort of interesting how they felt the need to reassure us she would be revived. It doesn’t happen for the others.
Huge hint that YES, Beato was waiting for him
It’ll be interesting to discover that this ACTUALLY HAPPENED in the past, only it did when Kuwadorian Beato was still alive. It might be he disappeared also to check on the gold, sort of normalizing the idea that Kinzo occasionally disappear among the Ushiromiya.
This is actually a hint on why Maria isn’t traumatized by her mother’s death, because she thinks she’ll be resurrected in the Golden Land.
For EP 2 I like:
This seems to hint to how Genji too longed for death and therefore this could have been part of his motivation for helping Sayo.
Huge hint on how Kanon is nothing else but an illusion, Sayo in disguise. It’s also interesting the idea he’s a thing they fear. It might be a reference to how Sayo feared the fact that her body wasn’t developing…
Another hint that Kanon doesn’t exist as a separate person.
It sort of goes lost on us but Samurai did Harakiri because the soul was assumed to be in the stomach and, by cutting their stomach they would present it and prove it was pure so this can be a hint to how far from pure the souls of the adults are.
This can be a hint to Maria’s motive, finally going to the Golden Land and being with a mother who would love her.
For EP 3 I like:
It’s a huge hint to those numbers leading to a bank account.
This is odd because Kanon wasn’t supposed to touch her… but it can be a hint to “Kanon” being still with her when Battler is shoot.
A hint to how Kyrie, contrary to what Nanjo said, didn’t die on the spot.
It might be a hint to how her death wasn’t planned, but after it Eva couldn’t go back anymore.
Hint to how Eva might have not gotten so far if she hadn’t killed Rosa.
For EP 4 I like:
Hint that Battler’s theory is wrong. It wasn’t the culprit who hung them, they hung themselves.
Again, Kanon disappear but he’s dead. Hints he doesn’t exist as his own person.
Hint to how Maria was broken by his ‘death’ and therefore could easily cooperate to Beato’s game.
Of course it would have been pretty hard to ‘read’ the hints when they were given but now it’s interesting to go back and see how Ryukishi delivered them.
