McBride Briar Berry Patch | Mapleton

Pick your own Raspberries and Blackberries in Utah Valley!

My kids and I love PYO (Pick Your Own) farms! Not only is it a great way to teach kids about where our food comes from and how it grows but it's also a great way to support local farmers! I love being able to go to a farm, talk with the owners, learn about their crops and buy the freshest fruits/vegetables!  Recently I visited the most darling Berry patch in Utah Valley and trust me, you want to end your Summer break picking buckets of fresh raspberries and blackberries!

McBride Briar Patch in Mapleton, UT officially opens for the season August 1st and will have berries well into October. The Owners are amazingly nice and were great with the kids chatting with them and making sure we were all having a grand time! They have a spunky dog named Molly who loves coming up and saying "Hi"! My kids picked 2 lbs of raspberries and probably would have picked more if I let them!

They offer buckets for you to pick into but you do need to bring your own container to take your berries home in.

The best time to go picking is in the mornings or evenings when it is cooler and its a good idea to wear long pants (and long sleeves if it is cool enough) because berry bushes are prickly!

They charge $3.50 a pound for the berries and provide a berry fun time for everyone! After berry picking, on the drive home my kids were coming up with all kinds of different ways we could use our fresh raspberries! It was fun to listen to them think creatively about food!
