Tribune Tower

THE BUILDING

The Tribune Tower is a neo-Gothic skyscraper that was built in 1925. The design of the building was the winning entry in a worldwide competition that Chicago Tribune had held to create “the most beautiful office building in the world”. The structure of the building emphasizes its vertical lines to create the illusion of a much taller tower. The elaborately ornamented crown of the building with its flying buttresses was inspired by the Butter Tower of Rouen. Nearly a century after it was built, the Tribune Tower remains one of the most beautiful skyscrapers of all time.
