One Piece: The Young powerful and Ambitious Gecko Moria

We should all re-evaluate Gecko Moria as a character within the Story and his current presence in the new world. Gecko moria currently in the story is only a shell of his former self and that was very evident in his arc Thriller Bark.

Before losing his ambition he was able to Fight with Kaido and the beast Pirates and many fans are overlooking this feat.

His more recent saying has been “Hurry up and make me the King of The Pirates” But he was not always like this. His spirit as a Pirate was Broken and he lost all of his close friends at the hands of The King of Beasts Yonko Kaido.

But before this unfortunate event befell Moria he was ambitious and blazing to become King of the Pirates. he was present at the time of Gold Rogers Death and he set out to sea with hopes and dreams fueled by One Piece and the great Pirate era.

When we see the way Moria Interacts with other great Pirates like Kuma the Tyrant or Doflamingo, Initially he is full of confidence that he’d be able to take them on as an equal. we have to consider that In the New world Moria was not Lazy, he was taking on rival pirate crews and directly leading his crew at the charge.

Just like in real life sometimes when a person suffers a major defeat/loss, they are mentally damaged and that can result in a decrease or downgrade of their abilities and etc. we see it happen all the time in combat sports where a fighter is knocked out and afterwards they are no longer the same.

Just look at that Image above of Young Moria, He was leaner and had way more of a threatening look to him than currently in the story. That’s the man who could sail the New World with confidence and he’s the one who earned the Governments respect by being given the title of Warlord.

The reason he approaches men like Doflamingo, Kuma, and More recently Blackbeard is because he still holds on to the past and his former strength. he doesn’t realize that his years spent lazing around and doing nothing has weakened him to the point where people are able to just knock him to the side with ease.

Crocodile for example experienced this as well with how he left the New World and lazed around allowing him to suffer a Defeat at the hands of a rookie like Luffy. but after being Locked up in Impel down Crocodile has seemingly regained his Fire as a pirate. (we’ll save this topic for a later day, but here’s a quick Crocodile Discussion until then)

Gecko Moria depending on what transpires on Beehive Island, he may also regain his Fire as a pirate after losing his Friend Absalom at the hands of the Blackbeard Pirates. He’s once again forced to relive the events of his past now that Blackbeard has slain Absalom and stolen his Devil fruit.

Moria is currently surrounded by Blackbeards Titanic Captains and I see no chance of him defeating them all and escaping the Island. But there is another possibility which in my opinion is unlikely, Blackbeard could potentially recruit him into his crew but with his friend being slain i cannot see that happening.

but wait do not think that I wouldn’t cover all possible bases. We cannot forget about Perona and her current quest to find Gecko Moria. It’s also possible that Blackbeard could use her as hostage so that Moria would be forced to follow his commands.
