Very happy with purchase!
I have an old PC that my brother built that was hooked up to my Internet with a cable. I switched over to wireless Internet and kept getting an error that the Internet was unplugged but my PC could not find the new wireless option. I purchased this item and plugged it into my PC which prompted me through a few questions and hooked right up to my new wireless Internet! Plugs into any USB port.

HOWEVER, when you first plug this into a Windows PC it is recognized as a storage device. One of the options is to run the driver install program, which works fine. After that, the device is recognized as a WiFi adapter. Great. Except that Linux cannot run Windows executables.
On my ChromeOS Flex computer, this device isn't recognized at all; not as a storage device or as a WiFi adapter. So it is useless for any OS other than Windows. It is not clear in the description that it works this way. It makes me wonder if the one that does NOT come with a "free driver" might actually work with a Linux PC.
I should have paid closer attention to the option I had selected. If you're getting this for Linux, make sure you get the one without the "free driver". You won't need it for Windows anyway.
Wish I had a do-over for this purchase. I would have ordered this one instead.

Edit 2023-09-06: After using this adapter for a few days, I discovered that its speed has decreased by an order of magnitude and it experiences frequent dropouts, where the signal literally disappears for a few seconds. This plays havoc with my work VPN connection. So I am downgrading my review. Hopefully I can get this unit replaced either with one that works or one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09BB15NG4
Edit 2023-09-12: The seller contacted me in response to this review and provided a full refund. It's great to see that they stand by their products with this excellent customer service! I've already ordered another similar device from them (see above link). So, although my review of the product as my personal experience is still valid, I would recommend 10Gtek as a seller in a heartbeat. I posted a separate seller review reflecting this.

I have no issue with the performance of this device. It seems to have pretty decent range. I bought it because it was what I needed and it has an antenna extension, which should provide better range.Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2023
