We love plants. It all started in 1961 when our founder, Jose Costa Sr., purchased 30 acres south of Miami to grow fresh, vine-ripened tomatoes. Soon after, that morphed into indoor houseplants. We've spent the past 61 years growing the highest quality plants so that you can decorate your home, gift, and grow plants fresh from our farm delivered right to your home

From the manufacturer
Palms provide fountains of foliage for indoor decor
Tall and frondy, palms are ideal focal point plants.
Palm trees provide fountains of foliage that add a lush, bold, tropical look to your home. There's a variety of beautiful palm trees that thrive as houseplants indoors. Most have similar growing needs: a bright spot (the brightest spot you can give them in most cases) and a watering when the top inch or two of the potting soil starts to dry.
Majesty palm trees bear long green, regal fronds and grow slowly, eventually reaching about 10 feet tall indoors. Cat palms feature dark green fronds that accent a wide variety of decor styles. It can grow 8 feet tall or more indoors.
An easy way to dress up any palm is to grow it in an attractive container. Look for pots that match your decor style or color scheme. Tall, narrow pots are a dramatic choice for houseplant palms because they accent the trees' elegant, upright shapes.
Palm Trees are:
- Great gifts
- Live indoor houseplants
- Delivered fresh from farm
- Tropical
Palm trees can be enjoyed indoors all year, then moved outdoors for summer

Dramatic statement plantIt's easy to decorate with these statuesque plants: Use palms to break up a section of blank wall, fill an empty corner, or act as a living sculpture at the end of a side table. A row of houseplant palms can make for a lovely living screen or room divider, too. |
Provides cleaner airSome studies suggest that leafy plants, such as palms, improve the air you breathe by removing toxins. |
Improves healthMany studies have shown that raising indoor plants is part of a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. |
Sustainable optionsLive plants are sustainable decor. Additionally, the potting soil we use here at Costa Farms is mostly made from a blend of coir and wood fiber. Coir is a sustainable plant byproduct made from cocoa husks. |
Product Description
Parlor Palm Tree features solid, green foliage. The Parlor Palm Treeis great for tabletops. It does well in spaces that have bright, indirect sunlight. Place Parlor Palm Tree in a spot that receives bright light (5 or more hours of sunlight). Water your plant about once a week with approximately 1 cup and be sure all excess water drains away. Adjust as needed for your environment. Do not let the Parlor Palm Tree sit in water or overly soggy soil. The height at shipping is approximately 12-inches tall, measured from the bottom of the pot to the top of the plant. The Parlor Palm Tree ships in a black, 6-inch grower pot. To help with water drainage, this container does have holes. The Parlor Palm Tree is a slow grower. Exact growth rate depends on the care provided and its environment. Give it a boost during the warm months of Spring and Summer with a general-purpose fertilizer that is formulated for potted plants. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer package for the best use. When the plant out grows the current container, it is time to repot. To repot the Parlor Palm Tree, gently remove it from its current container and place it into a slightly larger container. Fill in any empty spaces with new and fresh soil and water thoroughly. This plant is considered hardy in USDA Zone 10-12. Be aware of third-party sellers; other companies try to imitate our quality. Update. While my cat palm arrived in a beautiful state, within a day the fonds started failing. Some of them bent in half, some got crispy. I think they were experienced cold during shipping. While the pot was well packaged and a heat bag was attached, the foliage had little to no protection. Plus the box had 2 hand carrying holes that were 1.5”x 4” big, allowing outside air to enter the box, and expose the fonds to cold. I’m still hoping the palm will survive as a few of the fonds are okay. I should have known better than to buy a plant online in January.

I plan to update this if Costa Farms decides to respond to my inquiry with them however, it was submitted and they have had enough time to send a response and have not yet.
I received a majesty palm at the beginning of August, the plant had two main growths. The soil stayed moist throughout for the past few weeks of me checking. The top soil dried out about a week ago and I lightly watered it, not enough to saturate though because my house is over 60% humidity and it wasn't baking in sunlight. I had it in a north facing window temporarily. I woke up about a week and a half ago and the smaller palm of the plant collapsed and the bulb structure was rotten, two days ago the rest of the plant collapsed with a rotten structure. The plant pot is dropping millipedes both mature and young, the entire soil is infested with them as is the root and bulb structure of the plant which explains why it rotted so quickly.
This is a first for me, I've purchased Costa Farms plants in the past and I have never experienced worms/millipedes or infestations of any kind within the first 30 days of having a plant. This is really odd and super gross. I cannot make the plant come back from this, the whole thing is completely rotted out. I was considerably worried about the rare plants that I already own also becoming infested and I've had to now quarantine them to be sure that they don't end up rotting and the substrate they are planted in will need to be replaced. All of my non rare plants will also need to be repotted with new soil since I can't take any chances. I'm hoping I'll be able to update this and change my rating when they finally respond to make this right.
I'm all for natural pest control but millipedes upon research sound like they have far more negative effects on the soil than benefits considering they feed on organic matter. Looking forward to Costa's response/explanation.
