6 Years of use still happy

I've owned iRobot Roomba's now for over 6 years with a few issues as first one I bought had mother board failure as it began to overheat after it was repaired under warranty. Replacement was great with no problems other than usual battery failure after a year as the early batteries and their factory 2.5Ah batteries just don't hold up. I now use the 4.0Ah batteries in all my 3 Roomba's . I've also had the sensor failures or Err9 circle dance and had to change the sensors but when another mother board failed I took a risk and bought a unit that had brush module failure and exchanged from the one with bad mother board and now have another Roomba for less than cost of a used or new mother board. They're not perfect but after 6 years I wouldn't want to live without them as with the pet ...

Older Model Romba, not quite up to the standards of a newer model

I purchased this Romba as my second one. My first cost twice as much and was a Model 870. The differences were quite striking, especially if you have area rugs, as the older model simply cannot seem to handle climbing onto these Persian Carpets, where the newer model handles them with ease. Also, the battery does not last as long, leaving the Romba lost or unable to return to the base station from time to time. Lastly, the brushes on the 560 require constant maintanance, where at the 870 runs for days without getting gummed up with hair or other debre. That said, for half the price, it does work as a robotic vacuum and if you are willing to put up with some handholding along the way, it does work. But if you really want a fully automatic vacuum, spend the extra money and buy the 870 Model. ...

  • Picks Up & Works Great & runs over area rugs too.

I like the Irobot because it can run over my tile floors & my area rugs too and gets under my funiture, it will run for hours, it really picks up dirt and has a easy to clean filter. I have a small dog, and it picks up the hair, as well. My only draw back, is that it will run over the same areas more than once while leaving other areas untouched. It doesn't take the place of vacuuming completely, there are still areas that you still have to use your vacuum, but you can set this up for daily use on a timer while no one is home (that's a good thing). I bought it because my friend has one, and while I was visiting her for coffee one morning, the Irobot came out of its dock and started cleaning her floors. I believe our entire conversation that morning was about the Irobot. I was so impressed! ...

  • I love my roomba

I love having a roomba. It is so wonderful. My floors have never been so clean. I have tile throughout and only some throw rugs. Sweeping it doesn't do as good a job as my roomba. It does a pretty large size on one charge. It needs to be cleaned daily since it fills up so much. It usually finds its way back to the homebase but not always. I love the auto turn on feature but find it just as easy to turn it on manually when I know everything has been picked up on the floor that is too big for roomba to pick up. The bedroom doors need to be shut since its too hard to clean up the floors daily and roomba eats everything even tho its not supposed to get caught up in cords and shoelaces ....it does. I have 3 kids and 3 pets so the dirt is constant. Roomba saves the day and makes me so ...

  • Wowza! Love it--but cautiouly

If you spend $100 on a vacuum, you get junk. If you spend $200 on a vac, you still have to replace it in a few years. For a little more, I got the Roomba 560. The pros? For several years, since I developed arthritis in my hands, I've relied on my teenaged daughter to vacuum for me. Between her schedule and her attitude, my floors haven't always been spotless. My new Roomba--whom we named Frodo Bagless--chirps a happy little sound then off he goes. He works tirelessly until he's done. I don't have to remind him 14 times or point out that he missed a spot. Although you really do have to open him up and clean out his dust bin, brushes, and wheel after every use, Frodo B. has been a great addition to the household and my floors are cleaner than ever. He goes easily from floor to area rug or ...
