Every iPhone from the iPhone 12 and later is special in one particular way when it comes to add-ons: they’re integrated with Apple’s MagSafe charging system. Specifically, they have a special magnet system built into their back that, when paired with a MagSafe charger, allows them to magnetically connect and automatically start charging. This eliminates the need to find the perfect alignment that most wireless chargers require.

There’s more to it than just easy charging, though. MagSafe opens up the door for a whole new ecosystem of accessories that work with the new iPhone models. Apple has released a limited number of MagSafe cases, chargers, a portable batter and even a minimalist wallet — but there’s a vast ecosystem of other MagSafe accessories made by third-party manufacturers. Heck, Apple even works with the likes of Mophie and Belkin and sells their MagSafe accessories in its stores.

Regardless of it’s a non-Pro or Pro, Plus or iPhone mini (RIP), the below MagSafe accessories will work with the latest iPhones. We’ve been writing about and reviewing MagSafe accessories since Apple introduced MagSafe with its iPhone 12 line. Today, there are a number of key categories for MagSafe accessories — from MagSafe chargers to MagSafe portable batteries, MagSafe car mounts to MagSafe wallets — that are specifically designed to work with iPhone. The below selections of MagSafe accessories are a combination of products that we’ve had hands-on experience with as well as products that are made by brands that we trust.

The Best MagSafe iPhone Cases

When picking a case for your new iPhone, the primary factors to consider are size, material and style. You want a case that adds protection but not bulk, and you want it to fit your aesthetic. The best “MagSafe” cases also have built-in magnets so that they can establish the strongest possible connection with your iPhone and other various MagSafe accessories.

(Note: These are our favorite iPhone 15 cases, but clicking through to each listing’s website should enable you to see what other phones are supported by the brand.)

Totalle Super Thin Case

Totalle’s Super Thin Case adds a little protection to your iPhone and basically zero bulk — it’s been our favorite thin case for years. It’s available in a bunch of different colors and can be bought with or without magnetics; the latter costs a little more — $45 vs $39 — but the magnetic connection between your case and other MagSafe accessories will be stronger. (In truth, however, this case is so thin that it doesn’t really need the extra magnets.)

Nomad Modern Leather Case

Apple doesn’t make leather cases anymore and FineWoven, well, just isn’t a great alternative. If you’re looking for a true leather case that will patina over time, get this one by Nomad. It’s integrated with magnets so it’s able to make a really strong connection. And it’s available in brown or black finishes. (Note: Nomad sells a folio version of this leather case for an extra $10. )

OtterBox Defender Series XT

There are more rugged cases you can buy for your iPhone 15, but Otterbox’s Defender Series XT case adds a lot of protection — even on the borders of the front screen and over the charging port — without adding a ton of bulk. Unlike the regular Defender Series, this XT model is integrated with magnets and fully compatible with MagSafe. It’s available in several different colors (the model shown is the “Clear” case).

A true MagSafe charger is one that is Made for MagSafe (or MFI certified). This means it can wirelessly charge an iPhone at 15 watts, which is twice as fast as the 7.5 watts of a Qi wireless charger. Below, we’ve rounded up of favorite MagSafe wireless chargers of 2023.

The Nomad Stand One is our favorite MagSafe charging stand. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s also really solid and well built — made of metal and glass — and it doesn’t lift off the surface every time you go to pick up your iPhone. It’s fully MFi certified for MagSafe and will charge your iPhone at its fastest charging speed (although the necessary 20-watt USB-C wall adapter is sold separately.)

Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger

This is a 3-in-1 wireless charger for your iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods. It has a foldable design and comes with all the necessary components, including a USB-C wall adapter and a charging cable, to work right out of the box. It also comes with a fabric carrying case (nice!). It’s basically a souped-up version of Apple’s MagSafe Duo that also happens to be cheaper.

Apple MagSafe Charger

This is Apple’s entry-level MagSafe charger and while it’s admittedly a little boring, it’s probably the affordable option for most people. It’s simple and works well, although you’ll have to buy a 20-watt USB-C adapter separately because it doesn’t come with one.

Belkin’s MagSafe car mount is one of our favorites because of its slim design, relatively affordable price and integrated USB-C port so it can wirelessly charge your iPhone. (You need to use your own USB-C charging cable as it doesn’t come with one.) If you don’t need it charge your iPhone, Belkin sells an identical non-charging model that’s about half the price.

This is Mophie’s top-of-the-line MagSafe car mount — and it’s sold exclusively from Apple. It’s highly adjustable and comes with all the necessary components, such as a USB-C cable and a USB-C 20-watt car adapter, charge your iPhone right out of the box. Other than its high price, the only real downside is that it takes up a decent amount of space on your dash.

Mophie Snap Vent Mount

The Snap Vent mount will not wirelessly charge your iPhone. But it’s a simple and affordable car mount that works well and takes up minimal space on your dash. It’s our pick for the best cheap option.

A MagSafe battery pack is a portable power bank that magnetically attaches to the back of your iPhone and wirelessly charges it over MagSafe. There are quite a few available and they can vary in size, style and charging abilities. These are our favorites.

Apple MagSafe Battery Pack

Apple doesn’t sell its MagSafe Battery Pack anymore since it has made the jump away from Lightning to USB-C with the iPhone 15 — but it’s strongly rumored that it’ll release a USB-C model in the near future. That said, you can still buy this model from third-party sellers and it’s easily our favorite MagSafe battery pack. Since it’s made by Apple, it works really well with your iPhone and iOS — you can see how much battery life it has from your iPhone’s Lock Screen and from the Batteries widget. It can wirelessly charge your iPhone at 7.5 watts, which is faster than the 5 watts that most other MagSafe battery packs are capable of. And when powered, it can work as a true MagSafe charger that can wirelessly charge your iPhone at 15 watts.

Apple stopped making this MagSafe wallet with the introduction of the iPhone 15 — it currently sells a FineWoven alternative instead — but it’s still our favorite leather MagSafe wallet and, most importantly, you can still buy it from third-party sellers. It’s available in a bunch of different colors and it actually supports Apple’s Find My network, which makes it easy to find your wallet in case you misplace it.

BEST MAGSAFE WALLET FOR CARRYING CASH

Pelican Protector MagSafe Wallet

Pelican’s Protector MagSafe Wallet is one of the few options that has room for you to carry cash — there’s a dedicated compartment and strap for just that. It is one of the bulkier MagSafe wallets, but it’s also really rugged thanks to its hard-shell exterior. Its built-in magnet is also very strong so, despite its bulk, it won’t detach when you go to place your iPhone in your pocket.
