The Friends of WOSU Board plays a critical advisory role for WOSU Public Media. The board, established in 1973, reviews WOSU’s strategic plan and programming, advises on major initiatives, serves as advocates to government officials and leaders at Ohio State, and provides an all-important community lens.

The Charitable Advisory Council advises the Attorney General on training needs and model policies for charitable organizations. The council also assists the Attorney General in identifying emerging issues and trends affecting charities.

Guardian ad Litem is a Latin term meaning guardian at law; they are appointed to advocate in court for the child's best interest in cases of abuse and neglect. GALs gather information on their cases by making at least monthly visits with the child, speaking with professionals involved with the child, attending meetings regarding the child's welfare, and appearing in court as the child's advocate.

The Academy’s mission is to increase the number of central Ohio’s African American leaders and broaden its awareness of a wider pool of capable and civic minded African American professionals. Maximizing the potential and engagement of all social and economic sectors is essential to the greater purpose of building “best at” and “best to be in” businesses and communities.

The Alpha Rho Lambda Education Foundation was incorporated in the state of Ohio in April 1977 by the Columbus Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. The purpose of the Foundation is to encourage and assist high school graduates to further their education.

The activities of the Foundation include:

The Foundation has been designated as a non-profit 501c3 Corporation by the Internal Revenue Service, therefore contributions are tax deductible. Tax ID# 31-1010069. The Foundation fiscal year is January 1 – December 31. The Foundation is managed by a eleven (11) member Board of Trustees. Show less

Served as the local representative for the District Director and Regional Vice President. Addressed local-level issues. Supervised the operation of chapters in central Ohio. Implemented the vision of District and Regional leadership.

Assisted an elementary school student with homework and other academic needs; served as an adult role-model for him in an ongoing one-on-one capacity.
