Lacuna Launcher v1.0.0

webfork on 20 Nov 2015
  • 462KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 12 Dec 2008
  • Suggested by lautrepay

Lacuna Launcher uses a single shortcut with a list of files to open all at once. Applications (.exe), shortcuts (.lnk), internet shortcuts (.url), images, music, movies, etc.

Category:
Runs on:Win95 / Win98 / WinME / WinNT / Win2K / WinXP / Vista / Win7 / Win8
Writes settings to: Application folder
Stealth: ? Yes
License: Freeware (Donationware)
How to extract:
  1. Download the ZIP package and extract to a folder of your choice
  2. Open the included list.txt file in a text editor and make a list with the paths to files you want to open, placing one per line (no limit)
  3. Launch ll.exe
Programs start in the same order that they appear in the list

Note: Command-line options are available to give you more control over timing of the launches and the ability to create multiple lists and specify which you would like to use. To launch files with command line parameters, create a shortcut with the parameters set, and use the path to the shortcut file (.lnk) in the list, instead of a direct path to the application.

Been using this app for a few years and it's great. I work part time at 3 different jobs and have a list created for each office. Run the appropriate command line first thing in the morning and all the programs/files I need for the day are loaded and ready to go.

Joe on 2015-02-02 14:35

A good simple alternative to Splat if you are only interested in launching programs.

You can create separate lists for programs you want to launch together, e.g. one for office work, one for graphic design, etc, etc. You can create a list of all your favorite programs and make them start with Windows. Does not remain open or resident in memory once all programs are launched.

Altogether a very useful program.

Tested and works in Windows 8.1 x64 too.

TP109 on 2015-11-17 01:33

Very useful and simple tool for launching programs, opening folders, URLs, etc. with a shortcut. Launch lists use a text file so it's super easy to modify lists quickly and easily with the default txt editor.

@Magibon

I find that RegFromApp will only capture reg writes if the app your monitoring is actually doing the writing.

Let's say your monitoring an app/installer that creates a 'Working directory' e.g. %temp%/MonitoredApp and dumps some files that now write to the registry, these writes do not get captured because the monitored app is not doing the writing.

How I find RegFromApp useful:

1. In concert with Regshot: RegFromApp will only capture writes from the program not the system.

2. Capture and Export: I use Chromium web browser and pass args on the command line to keep all files in the app directory e.g. --user-data-dir=.\
The only problem is that when I "Make Chromium my Default Browser" it doesn't transfer the command line to the registry.

By starting Chromium from/within RegFromApp as an admin I can capture these reg entries and export for editing (search and replace) with a text editor and add the command line and merge back into the registry.

This program doesn't work anymore. When launching any app through it, both the 32 and 64-bit versions just display "Failed to start with the new selected process. Error code: 299
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed."

Does not work, tested Oct 2020.

Disk2vhd v2.01

Checker on 20 Jan 2015

  • Released on 21 Jan 2014
  • Suggested by guinness

Disk2vhd is a utility that can create live "snapshots" of Windows volumes, allowing you to duplicate/backup systems while running. The program creates Virtual Hard Disk files (.VHD, Microsoft's Virtual Machine disk format) from physical disks and can be used in Microsoft Virtual PC or Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs).

The program uses Windows' own Volume Snapshot capability added starting with WinXP to create consistent point-in-time snapshots of the volumes you want to include in a conversion. You can even have Disk2vhd create the VHDs on local volumes, even ones being converted (though performance is better when the VHD is saved to a different disk than ones being converted).

Wrong download link. This is the correct: http://download.sysinternals.com/files/Disk2vhd.zip

It was http://download.sysinternals.com/Files/Disk2vhd.zip -- it's unusual for MS to have a case sensitive path. Changed.

@smaragdus Thanks. I downloaded it. BTW, XMPlay archives older versions here: https://support.xmplay.com/files.php?id=20

The problem seems to be related to plugins. It's working now. See post at un4seen forums here:

I used to use WinAmp (over the years became bloated and tool forever to load), then tried Cool Player (good, but not enough features for me). XM Player is the perfect balance - super fast, reliable (so far), flexible, and customizable. J.U.S.T. Perfect!

Anyone know why i can't seem to scan ESET SysInspector's webpage?
http://www.eset.eu/support/changelog-eset-sysinspector
(which btw would be a good addition to this website)

Hydaral on 2010-03-30 01:59

@shaka - I don't think it likes the user agent for WebVersions (or WGET for that matter), a web proxy seems to work:

ESET SysInspector;;1.2.021;http://www.surfwithease.com/index.php?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.eset.eu%2Fsupport%2Fchangelog-eset-sysinspector&hl=1c4;false;

shaka on 2010-04-01 15:37

Thank you for the idea, it explains the error alright.
I found another suitable page though:

Works ok.

WizMouse v1.7.0.3

webfork on 15 Jul 2023
  • 742KB (uncompressed)
  • Released on 23 Aug 2013
  • Suggested by antibody

WizMouse is a lightweight program that lets your mouse wheel scroll the window under the pointer, even if the window doesn't have input focus. Normal behavior requires clicking on a window to activate it before you can scroll it with your mouse wheel.

The program can optionally enable the mouse wheel in applications that don't support it by converting mouse wheel messages to scroll bar messages.

Other options include "reverse mouse scrolling" (like "natural scrolling" on Mac OS X Lion), and bringing the scrolling window to the foreground.

  • This version updates the reverse mouse scrolling option to behave in a more similar way to Mac OS "natural" scrolling (the wheel direction is no longer reversed when the control key is held down).
