Description

Are you looking for a solving one-step equations activity with only multiplication and division? Miss Kuiper's Classroom has you covered with this self-checking activity! In this activity, students will work with solving one-step equations that deal with only multiplication and division with rational numbers.

This Bundle Includes

  • Aligning Common Core Standards
  • Digital Activity (16 equations)
  • Answer Key

What makes it self-grading?

This mystery puzzle shows students immediately if they got the answer correct or not. If a student types in the correct answer, the cell in Google Sheets will turn green as well as pop up a piece of the picture. If student input the incorrect answer, the cell turns red.

What makes this scaffolded?

This activity is scaffolded to help students truly understand solving equations. You can read here how I structure my entire solving equations unit for student success. With students working below grade-level, we want to set them up for success. We get students comfortable with solving for the value of x at an easier level: multiplication and division with decimals and fractions.

Eight problems contain multiplication and eight problems contain division.

Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
Use variables to represent numbers and write expressions when solving a real-world or mathematical problem; understand that a variable can represent an unknown number, or, depending on the purpose at hand, any number in a specified set.
Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Solve linear equations in one variable.
Solve linear equations with rational number coefficients, including equations whose solutions require expanding expressions using the distributive property and collecting like terms.
