Who was Edward Jenner?

Edward Jenner was a scientist who lived between 1749 and 1823. He invented the world's first vaccine, which was created to treat smallpox, a disease which is now eradicated. He is sometimes called 'the father of immunology', and his work has helped to save countless lives. He is considered to be one of the greatest scientists who ever lived and has been listed as one of the 100 Greatest Britons. He had two children and died in 1823.
