TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — An alligator was spotted sunbathing near a Florida resident’s dock in Moorings Bay in a photo shared on Tuesday.

According to the Naples Police Department, when the gator saw the cops, he decided to scram.

NBC affiliate WBBH said a woman shared her shock when she went to watch dolphins off of her dock, and saw the gator instead.

“A couple days earlier we saw it on the gulf side which was highly unusual,” she told WBBH.

Earlier this month, another alligator was spotted in Collier County chasing two people driving by on a golf cart. The residents were able to swerve to avoid the ambitious gator.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reminds Floridians to never feed an alligator and to keep their distance from them if they encounter one.

Anyone concerned about an alligator is asked to call FWC’s Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286.
