The Denver Broncos are set for minicamp on May 11th, and the rookie class was finally issued their official jersey numbers…

The Denver Broncos have finally released jersey numbers for the incoming rookie class, and there are some really exciting ones.

The only number that had been revealed officially was Bradley Chubb’s ’55’ because he himself revealed it on Instagram.

Here is the Broncos’ tweet revealing the new jersey numbers for rookies:

The draft picks were not the only ones issued some new numbers. Here are numbers for every rookie — including undrafted players — in the class of 2018:

OLB Bradley Chubb — 55
WR Courtland Sutton — 14
RB Royce Freeman — 37
CB Isaac Yiadom — 41
LB Josey Jewell — 47
WR DaeSean Hamilton — 17
TE Troy Fumagalli — 84
OL Sam Jones — 70
LB Keishawn Bierria — 40
RB David Williams — 36
RB Phillip Lindsay — 2
DB Trey Marshall — 3
WR John Diarse — 9
OLB Jeff Holland — 46
OT Leon Johnson — 63
OL Austin Schlottmann — 71
DL Lowell Lotulelei — 78
WR Jimmy Williams — 85

Some of these numbers are really exciting. I’ll give you some of my favorites, and some of the ones I’m not so pumped about yet.

Excited

Josey Jewell’s number 47, the number made famous in Denver by John Lynch (most recently), is the coolest among these, in my opinion.

Jewell wore 43 at Iowa, but transitioning to 47 in the NFL and specifically in Denver I think will be a very popular jersey for the fans. I’ve always liked the ‘4’ and ‘7’ on Denver’s uniform with the font they use. Jewell will look good in this one.

I’m also a big fan of Chubb’s 55, and the new receiver duo of Sutton and Hamilton taking 14 and 17 respectively. Receivers wearing numbers in the ‘teens’ has always been my preference, as opposed to jerseys in the 80s, though some players wear numbers in the 80s really well.

The last one I’m excited about is tight end Troy Fumagalli in 84. I wonder if he made a call to Shannon Sharpe about that one…

Not Excited

Royce Freeman’s number 37 may or may not stick. Unfortunately, I’m not a huge fan of that jersey number. The lower the number for running backs, to me, the better.

Obviously, we love Terrell Davis’ classic number 30. I think a Broncos running back would look good in 31, but that number is taken right now by Justin Simmons.

I also like 32 in Denver’s font, but that number belongs to Andy Janovich.

Freeman may have to wait until final cuts to be able to change his number, though he could make 37 his own.

Fellow running back David Williams got number 36, and that’s another one I’m not a huge fan of.

I think as a whole, the Broncos did a good job of getting clean looking numbers to all of the new players. Some of these will change between now and the start of the season, so aside from maybe Chubb’s 55, I would hesitate to buy a jersey until the start of the season.
