He would be a terrific signing for Bayern if it eventually materializes.

Hansi Flick and Hasan Salihamidzic have already made it clear that Bayern Munich does not plan on making any signings during the winter transfer window, but there’s is still a great deal of squad planning for the future taking place.

Per a new report from Tz, Bayern has held initial discussions with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Florian Neuhaus. The idea would be to have him sign for Bayern in the summer transfer window if anything were to materialize, but the midfielder has been an impressive asset for Marco Rose’s midfield and recently showcased his ability, scoring the winning goal in ‘Gladbach’s 3-2 win over Bayern last week at Borussia-Park.

In the anticipation of both David Alaba and Javi Martinez leaving Bayern this summer, Bayern want to try and sign Neuhaus to fill at least one of those gaps. With Martinez leaving, that would mean that Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka and Marc Roca would be the only players in the squad apt to play the number 6 role, but Roca has struggled to break into the first team squad. In addition, Corentin Tolisso’s future at Bayern is also in question as the French international struggles to string together consistent minutes and strong performances. With all of that considered, Neuhaus would be an ideal addition to Bayern’s midfield.

No concrete offer has been made yet from Bayern, but it’s understood that Neuhaus has an exit clause in his current contract with ‘Gladbach that could be activated with a transfer fee of €40 million. Currently, his contract with Die Fohlen runs through 2024, but €40 million could be a feasible fee for Bayern.

Interestingly enough, a Landsberg am Lech native himself, Neuhaus’s father is also a big Bayern fan, which would only make a move to Bavaria all the more special for the 23-year-old.

Sky Germany expert Max Bielefeld also echoed the feasibility of a Neuhaus transfer to Bayern when he said, “FC Bayern makes the most sense.” Neuhaus is ready to make the next step in his career. Bayern is the logical destination and this would also bolster his fortunes of staying in the setup for the German National Team in the buildup to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
