I’M SHEREE PAOLELLO AND THANKS FOR JOINING US. I’M MIKE DARDIS THAT WOMAN RUSH TO THE HOSPITAL WITH HEAD INJURIES. NOW, WE’RE TOLD THAT SHE WAS ON A WALKING TRAIL WHEN PARK DANGER SAY THE TREE WAS UPROOTED AND CAME CRASHING DOWN WLWT NEWS SCIENCE, KAREN JOHNSON LIVE FORCE AT SHARON WOODS TONIGHT COVERING THIS BREAKING NEWS KAREN. HEY GUYS, AND TONIGHT A PART OF THIS TRAIL REMAINS CLOSED. THIS IS A PAVED PATH CLOSE TO THE LAKESIDE LODGE ENTRANCE IN TO SHARON WOODS EARLIER TODAY A MAN CALLED. ONE AND SET A HUGE TREE FELL ABOUT A HALF A MILE DOWN. THIS IS LIKE A 30 INCH TREE. OKAY, AND IT JUST FELL OVER OUT OF NOWHERE RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAST. AND I BELIEVE HE WAS REFERRING TO THE WITH THEIR PARK RANGERS ARE NOT LETTING THE PUBLIC CLOSE TO THE AREA WHERE THE TREE FELL FOR SAFETY REASONS. THEY SAY AROUND 11:00 THIS MORNING A MAN ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRAIL HEARD A CRASH AND CALLED FOR HELP. THEY SAY A LARGE TREE WAS UPROOTED AND PART OF IT FELL ON A WOMAN WHO WAS ON THE PATH ACCORDING TO THE 911 CALLER. SHE WAS BLEEDING FROM HER HEAD. SHE WAS FLOWN TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL WITH SERIOUS INJURIES AND ASKED THE PARK RANGER IF THEY DETERMINED WHAT CAUSED THE TREE TO FALL WAS. DEAD TREE WAS WEATHER RELATED. THEY SAID THEY DON’T KNOW YET. THE INVESTIGATION STILL CONTINUING ON ON WHAT ACTUALLY CAUSED THE THE TREE TO COME DOWN. YOU KNOW LOTS OF CIRCUMSTANCES COULD BE THERE WITH THE WEATHER AND THE AMOUNT OF RAIN THAT WE HAVE, BUT THAT WOULD BE SPECULATING AT THIS POINT. AND THE PARK RANGER DID TELL ME THE WOMAN WAS ALERT AND TALKING WHEN SHE WAS FLOWN TO THE HOSPITAL. WE ARE STILL WAITING ON AN UPDATE ON HER CONDITION REPORTING LIVE IN SHARONVILLE. A woman injured by a falling tree at Sharon Woods is the wife of Cincinnati Reds outfielder Shogo Akiyama. That tree fell Feb. 25 at the popular 730-acre park in Sharonville, toppling on top of Akaya Akiyama.It happened on a shared-use trail between the Lakeside Lodge and the Kreis Dam.Park rangers said a visitor on the other side of the trail heard the crash and called for help."If you walk about half-a-mile down the trail, a huge 30-inch tree just fell on a pedestrian and she needs an ambulance," a 911 caller said. "It just fell over out of no where right in the middle of the path."That caller said Akaya Akiyama was not trapped under the tree, but was bleeding from the side of her head. She was taken by helicopter to an area hospital. Shogo Akiyama confirmed Thursday that his wife is still recovering, but is doing better. Shogo Akiyama, 32, reported to the Reds' spring training facility for the first time Thursday. He had been noticeably absent from spring training, attending to a personal matter. Shogo Akiyama became Cincinnati's first-ever Japanese player last season.
