オーファンドラッグ(Orphan Drug)とは希少疾病用医薬品のことで、対象患者数が本邦において5万人未満であること、医療上特にその必要性が高いものなどの条件に合致するものとして、厚生労働大臣が指定した医薬品です。 欧米でも、患者数の規定に多少の差はあるものの、ほぼ同様の制度があります(表)。
