Camilla Belle Says Her Mom Still Dresses Her in Adulthood
Camilla Belle is known for roles in The Lost World: Jurassic Park and When a Stranger Calls, but in the past few years it’s her fashion that gets people talking.
The 31-year-old star regularly turns to designers like Valentino, Ralph Lauren, and Carolina Herrera for her elegant looks, however, it’s her mom, Cristina Routh, who really makes sure Belle looks her best.
“I was a very well-dressed child,” Belle, who recently collaborated with Cointreau, told us. Her mom actually has an eye for style because she was a designer in Brazil and started her own company when she was 20. “She’s really taught me everything I know, frankly, and really exposed me to this world from a very early age. Why not stick with what works? I know she has no agenda.”
Belle added that they work similarly, and it’s their respect for each other that makes the working relationship successful. “I’ve been working my whole life, so that’s been set since the beginning and I think, if you have a lot of respect for each other, with any partnership, that’s what matters at the end of the day,” she said.

The star, who’s gearing up to cook up a Thanksgiving meal this week (“I’ve been doing that for quite a few years now,” she shared) also has advice for young women everywhere.

“The power of no is very underestimated, and we don’t remember that. I was taught from a really early age to value my self worth … Your self confidence is the most important thing you can have,” she said. “If you’re feeling confident, you’re dressing for yourself. Your confidence really moves you on the outside … It comes from the inside, anyway, so I think it’s all about loving yourself truly and that will take you really far.”
